How to Book your Test
Theory Test
Booking your theory test is relatively straightforward and they seem to have them available most weeks.
You need a theory test pass before you can book your practical so this is important to get quickly.
Book via Gov website here.
Do Not Panic!, you have a lot of time, carefully read and understand how to work the computer first.
Work through each answer and those you are unsure of leave and come back to at the end of the test, you will have relaxed and have more time then.
If your not sure how to approach the hazard perception test, please try to use the 3 click rule.
Practical Test
Currently to book a Practical test is taking a little time. Students are reporting back to me that no tests are shown as available when they try to book.
The best advise is keep trying in the multiple options available to you, including booking services, apps etc you seem to need a test in the DVSA system first.

If you are still struggling with booking
There are numerous “Apps” that say they will book for you. There are also companies that will sell you a test date for extra money.
My own impression of these services are effectively que jumping and I have had no involvement with them.

I want to help my students but do not wish to promote expensive services for early test dates.
Swapping Tests
Another possibility for securing an earlier test is swapping your own test date with another student.
An example of how it works, say student A has a test booked for May 05th but can not make that date. Student B has a test booked for July 20th.
Student B is looking for an earlier test date, it may be possible for the two to swap their tests and then both keep a test date without fear of losing it.
Occasionally I have this situation develop within my active students, please let me know if you are interested in a swap date and I will always try to facilitate if I can.
If it was available I contact both parties and request an email confirming I can swap each of your details with the other (GDPR compliance). I can pass on the details of how you do it and you work it between each other.
Normally there is no extra costs for this between parties.
Arranging Tests for you.
Although not my preferred route, I have successfully arranged a number of tests recently.
I have only become involved where lack of tests were becoming a barrier to Students and via the various groups I have been invited to join there were some good success stories.
I was previously adding my students to the groups but unfortunately a few problems occurred where communications were not good and people were moaning at me?
To prevent such problems in the future, I will endeavour to source a Test for my own students if they request it.
For me to Book a Test for you please complete the following:
- I will need a photo of the front of your provisional licence please
- Your Theory pass Certificate number
- Confirmation that the address on the Provisional licence is correct
- Maximum you want to spend on a test – This purely so I can work around your budget, I will always try to obtain lowest price and you dont have to pay unless your satisfied with it.
- Preferred centre (Tolworth/Chertsey)
- Date Range you can complete a test (I will always make suggestions on this as well, it is merely dates you may be away on holiday etc.
- Your confirmation you are happy for me to book a test on your behalf with your information.

If i can secure you a test, i will confirm in an email with the final price on it that you will need to pay. If you do not want to pay for this test or have changed your mind, that is fair enough, I will try to pass the test to someone else, all it means for you is that your details will be locked into a test until it is transferred or sold again. I will try to do this as soon as possible but it may take as long as a week if at busy times.
Test Bookings in 2026
It is my preference each student book their own tests, I become involved merely to assist when I can if it helps my own students. I do not buy and sell tests to third parties.
The DVSA have announced that they intend to stop 3rd parties booking tests in 2026, so at some point in 2026 I shall cease this support for my students altogether. I fully support this action as it will hopefully stop the crazy prices that exists for purchasing tests at present.
